American Service Pets connects people with mental health professionals licensed in their state for Emotional Support Animal (ESA) and Psychiatric Service Animal (PSA) evaluations. Documentation is issued solely by the licensed provider based on their clinical judgment, and approval is never automatic. ESA documentation can support a reasonable accommodation request under the Fair Housing Act but does not grant public access rights under the ADA. Under the Air Carrier Access Act, airlines are not required to accommodate ESAs and may apply their own pet policies. A psychiatric service dog must be individually trained to perform tasks related to its handler’s disability; documentation alone does not make a dog a service animal. Our evaluation process is designed to follow federal and state requirements, including state-specific provider relationship rules where they apply.
