Hey there, dog lovers! Today, we’re diving into the world of training a comfort dog, also known as a support dog or Emotional Support Animal (ESA). Whether you’re looking to ultimately train your dog as a full-fledged Psychiatric Service Animal (PSA) or simply aiming for a well-behaved pet or ESA, our online service dog training program I Train Academy is a great solution.
But first, let’s discuss the importance of dog training in general.
Training a comfort dog isn’t just about having a well-behaved pet; it’s about creating a harmonious relationship between you and your furry friend.
Here are some fantastic reasons why training a comfort dog can be a rewarding experience:
Good Behavior: A trained comfort dog is a well-mannered dog. They understand boundaries and are less likely to engage in disruptive behaviors.
Ease in Public: Taking your dog out in public is a breeze when they’re trained. They’re calm, composed, and non-reactive to the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Stress Reduction: Training a comfort dog can significantly reduce stress for both the dog and the owner. A well-trained dog means fewer worries and more peaceful moments together.
Stronger Bond: Training fosters a deeper understanding and stronger bond between you and your dog. It’s an investment in a lifelong friendship.
Safety: A trained comfort dog is safer to have around family and friends. They listen to commands and are less likely to unintentionally harm someone.
We understand that not everyone wants or needs their dog to be a Psychiatric Service Animal. That’s perfectly okay! Training a comfort dog is a wonderful goal in itself. Our I Train Academy offers an extensive Obedience training program that’s ideal for this purpose.
Our Obedience training curriculum covers all the essentials for training a comfort dog. It’s structured, easy to follow, and, most importantly, effective. And the best part? Once you complete the course, you’ll receive an Obedience Certificate of Completion – a testament to your dedication and your dog’s new skills!
You might recognize the name Jas Leverette from the Netflix series Canine Intervention. In addition to his recent Netflix stardom, Jas is a well-known celebrity trainer, having trained the dogs of some big names in Hollywood. We partnered with Jas to develop and produce the I Train Academy curriculum, and here’s the foundation of it:
We believe in flexibility. If training a comfort dog is your end goal, and you wish to stop after the Obedience training, that’s absolutely fine. Just reach out to our American Service Pets Support Team, and we can cancel your I Train subscription post-completion. No hassles, no worries!
Training a comfort dog is a journey filled with challenges, laughter, and countless rewarding moments. It’s not just about commands and rules; it’s about building a unique language of love and respect between you and your dog. And remember, we’re here to support you every step of the way.
All we ask is 15 minutes of your time each day to do the training and complete the homework that’s part of I Train Academy (don’t worry, we don’t grade it – it’s purely there to keep you on track).
So, whether you’re aiming for a service animal or simply training a comfort dog for a happier, well-adjusted pet life, our I Train Academy is here to make your journey enjoyable and successful. Let’s embark on this beautiful journey together and unlock the full potential of your beloved companion!

“My dog is doing very well with his training. Heel inside the home is very different outside. I have him socializing more. Today I took him to the river and had him go up and over a picnic table. He’s done having treats for doing his objective properly now I have bought new toys to enhance his experience. He is in the heel, sit, down position – any one of the above and I am able to tell him to down throw the toy and he will stay there until I tell break. This program is absolutely fantastic. My dog is an American pit bull named Diezel. I am very happy with his progression. Thanks Jas!”
